Trabajamos juntos para encontrar el camino.

México enfrenta la doble crisis del cambio climático y la pérdida de biodiversidad. La ciencia es clara: lo que hagamos en esta década definirá si logramos conservar los ecosistemas de los que depende la vida. En TNC México combinamos ciencia, alianzas estratégicas y el conocimiento de comunidades locales para actuar en tres frentes prioritarios.

  • Young mangroves in Seychelles. In 2016, the Republic of Seychelles worked with TNC to restructure part of its national debt, freeing up money to reach the conservation goal of protecting 30% of its marine territory by 2020. As of 2018, the government has established two marine protected areas—taking the country over halfway to this goal. Using this debt conversion model as a base, TNC has now created the Blue Bonds for Conservation plan which can help other island and coastal nations address their debt challenges, benefit more than 40 million people and conserve 15% more of the world’s oceans than are currently protected in the next five years.

The Nature Conservancy works with landowners, communities, and governments in Mexico to promote low-carbon rural development through the design and implementation of improved policy and practice in agriculture, ranching, and forestry. The Conservancy is leading the initiative, Mexico REDD+ Program in conjunction with the Rainforest Alliance, the Woods Hole Research Center, and Espacios Naturales y Desarrollo Sustentable.
